Our giving tree is up in the foyer. We are collecting warm socks, hats, gloves, scarves, etc. Please place them directly on the boughs of the tree. All donations will be given to the Wayside Center to benefit Elgin’s homeless population.

Trunk or Treat

Looking for fun and safe Halloween activities for kids?

First Christian Church will be having it's annual Trunk or Treat event on October 29th from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. This event will include an opportunity for your children to go "trunk" or treating in our church parking lot. Going from car to car, collecting yummy goodies and treats, your children will enjoy the unique experience and be talking about it for days.

Youth Group Bake Sale
July 31, 2011

The youth group will be selling baked goods this Sunday July 31th following service. Bring your hungry tummies and fill them up with home-made delicious goodies! In doing so, you will be helping to support their summer activities.

We are planning an outing for a Kane County Cougars Game on Saturday August 6th at 6pm.

There will be fireworks, pre-game autographs, and a post game of running the bases! If you would like to join us ticket prices are $12 per person with children 3 and under free.

We are trying to get a block of seating, so we ask that if you are interested in going you sign up on the sheet in the welcome center as soon as possible, or call or text Lisa in the office by Friday July 22.

Come fellowship and enjoy a baseball game!!
You may turn in ticket money by the date of the game.

FCC Car Wash - July 17,2011

Is your car dirty?? GOOD -- Leave it that way and bring it to church on this Sunday, July 17, 2011!!!

Our youth group will suds, sparkle and shine it up for you!! FOR FREE!!

They are trying to raise money for their summer activities.
So….. donations are encouraged and gladly accepted!!

We did a little survey around here a few weeks ago and we asked you to put down the questions that people in your life, particularly those who far from God, are asking you. We collected those questions and over the month of July we will be examining the most commonly asked questions together.

Joplin Missions Trip - July 20th - 24th

FCC is preparing to send a group to Joplin, Missouri July 20-24 for a short mission trip . What an incredible opportunity this will be! Would you like to join them? If you or you and your family are interested in going or would like more information, please join us this Saturday June 25th at 6pm at FCC for a brief informational meeting regarding this trip. I hope you’ll prayerfully consider joining us!

If you are unable to join the team on this trip there will be an opportunity to support them financially as well. FCC will be taking up a special offering on Sunday July 10th and 17th specifically for this mission trip. Please prayerfully consider what you might give, beyond your normal giving, for this special mission.

This is a reminder that our potluck this month is on Sunday June 26th. You can look forward to our potlucks on the last Sunday of every month.

If you are able to, please bring a dish to share. I am sure our church would love to get a taste of your yummy goodies and fabulous recipes.

Last I checked, the mortality rate was holding steady at 100%.

It may not be the most pleasant thought for you, but the fact is, you are going to die - guaranteed. What is unknown is exactly when. Also up for grabs is what kind of life you will live in the meantime. One Month to Live is an invitation to completely alter the rest of your life - however many days that may include. It's about admitting that through the routines of our daily existence we can become drowsy about life, complacent, missing out on what it means to truly live.

Together we'll ask this question: "If I really knew I had one month to live, what would I change?"
